Empes Grill in Kiruna

Oops, oj, after coming home from our spontaneous trip to Treriksröset and Kiruna, I have mostly been working and the blog has suffered.

Today I fell asleep to a movie on youtube 9 minutes, haha, Talk about tired!

As we were trekking plans so we did not as much of the city of Kiruna, which we had hoped, but a real gem did we and we will get back to Empes Grill next time we are in town!

Empes Grill has existed throughout the 65 years and is widely known for its delicious burgers and its amazing souvas. Souvas is as kebab stuck with reindeer. Us!

Do you eat at Empes BBQ so you can find them on the street behind Momma Scandic!

This grill may not look like much of the world, but appearances are deceptive!

“Little My” by Anneli's nickname is worked into the grill in 28 years old!

Little My grace ordering the door next to the funny sign.

This funny t-shirt had the staff for a customer who always ordered “Impaggiterat, eat bag!”

The best! Supergod souvas! <3

Nah I must go and eat something, was so hungry by the image! :)

Back in Sweden!

Now we are back in Sweden again after our hike to Treriksröset.

It was truly an adventure, we believed all that our walk would be both easy and relatively fast so we were quite surprised that we took up so “slowly”.

When I have been searching information about Treriksröset and how to get there, it was that the distance between Kilpisjärvi and Treriksröset was a little over a mil, I do not know if it was naive of us but we thought that we would be there in about two hours. It was wrong! ;)

Now that we are half dead in the car on the way back, it feels like it was a memorable experience, but in the great outdoors, I wished that I was most at home in my bed. :P

When we are back in Kiruna, I will post some pictures from our adventure. :)

Hugs Jinni

Midnight sun in Kiruna

Yesterday we got a quick tour of Kiruna with car. After dinner and a super short PowerNap we decided to go up on the hill Luossajärvi (Finnish: Luossavaara) and admire the view and the midnight sun.

It really is not dark at all here, the sun shines day and night but does not heat as much at night.
We have about 3-4 degrees during the day today and last night it was blowing cold. So now we have equipped our best ability to keep warm during our hike.

Midnattsolen

Though out in the backwoods… :The

We managed to get about an hour's train ride from the shore when the rain and thunder took off.

Now we are stuck in the middle of nowhere on a train without power;. There is no current in the wires above the train after a lightning strike somewhere (!????!!!) along the way and we are not going away until they are cooked Management.

In addition, lightning struck the bottom of the station closest to and therefore we can not reach there either, whether the management is cooked or not because the switches in the station switched. I guess we'll stay here a while. Luckily I brought a book.

4 June 2011 – Umeå East

Busy morning.
V was out last night and partied with her guy gang, he dropped in after at 5 and then it was 1.5 hours to go until the train would go.
Nothing was properly packed, V ocharmigt was drunk during the whole morning and stumbled around the apartment, when the clock was 06.14 we locked the door!
Then we had about 2-3km to get to the station, train time 06.28.
I was stressed out liiiite!
I will Jaak rude and angry when I'm stressed.
V was too tired to care.

We rode as fast as it went with hiking equipment and a dog in a cage and came up 06.26.
Talk about a rush!!

(I always wanted to be in the Amazing Race but now realize that there's so much fun to run in the last seconds of breath.)

We rushed down the stairs at the gleaming new station (the escalators worked, of course not) and came out on the platform.

NEW TIME! 07:00!!!
Sköönt! When did we rest the dog properly and meet AS one who came up with some stuff to her. Phuuu.

Snow in June?

So we have been longing for summer and sun, but now that summer vacation is going as we draw so far north it goes… almost.

Tomorrow, early in the morning we travel to Kiruna, the trip from Umeå by train takes 7,5 hours and we arrive at two o'clock.
We found last-minute tickets on sj.se for only 250kr/person. We have not booked a return trip even with a little ice in the stomach, perhaps we can find an equally good price on the way home!

We will stay with fine AS who has an apartment in town. it gets a little sightseeing and hopefully a trip to Treriksröset if possible! It will be so very exciting! Of course the dog on an adventure.
